Derived from Natural Volcanic Ash, Exceptional Quality for Diverse Applications
Request a QuoteBentonite is a particular kind of clay formed and derived from the weathering and erosion of volcanic ash. It consists mainly of montmorillonite with minor amounts of illite, kaolinite, cristobalite and other minerals. Bentonite clay, when in contact with water, increases several-fold in volume and forms a thixotropic, gelatinous substance. The main uses of Bentonite take advantage of this colloidal property. Bentonite is also used as a filtering and decolorizing agent mainly in the production of mineral oils and greases, in the production of vegetable oils and fats, fish oils and animal fats, in the regeneration of exhausted tube oils and for the regeneration of solvent in dry cleaning machines.
