Laterite

Premium Laterite with Reliable Supply and Quality for Building Projects

Laterite Soil
Laterite is rich in iron and aluminium, it is also highly porous, with a low clay content and a high level of acidity. It is easy to cut and shape, and has good load-bearing properties, which make it ideal for constructing buildings, walls, and other structures. Laterite is a weathering product of various rock types rich in iron and aluminium oxides. Its distinct reddish-brown coloration stems from the oxidation of iron minerals. Used primarily in construction, laterite serves as a building material for structures in tropical regions due to its natural abundance and ease of quarrying.

Frequently Asked Questions
Laterite is a naturally iron-rich clayey rock formed in tropical regions. The Sharad Group’s TSG L-1 grade is ideal for:
- Construction – low-cost bricks and road sub-base materials.
- Landscaping – rustic wall cladding and garden pathways.
- Cement production – used as a lateritic additive.
- Water filtration – natural iron removal.
- High iron/alumina content for durability and weather resistance.
- Low shrinkage during drying – reduces cracks in bricks/blocks.
- Eco-friendly alternative to fired clay bricks.
- Sub-base layers – cost-effective alternative to gravel.
- Erosion control on slopes due to cohesive structure.
Factor | Laterite (TSG L-1) | Clay Bricks |
---|---|---|
Cost | Lower (minimal processing) | Higher (firing required) |
Thermal Insulation | Better (natural porosity) | Moderate |
Carbon Footprint | Eco-friendly (sun-dried) | High (kiln-fired) |
Our TSG L-1 laterite is mined from iron-rich deposits in Gujarat. It is:
- Lab-tested for composition (Fe₂O₃ ≥ 35%).
- Available in bulk with 300M+ tons of reserves.
- Custom form available – crushed, block, or powder.
